Andrea, what do you think of this season in D3 women’s football? The outcome is positive for our first year at this level. We secured maintenance which was the main goal. We are very happy to have stayed, even though the end of the season was tough and we may not end up where we deserve. But overall, it’s been a successful season.
You have been suspended since February. How have you dealt with this situation? From a personal point of view, it’s frustrating to cut my season short, but we were expecting a big penalty (after incidents in Lyon). Even though I am not playing, I am still present for the team. I attend all practices and home games. It was important because I felt like I was abandoning them on the field. It was good for me to stay involved.
How do you see next season? We haven’t really planned ahead yet. We hope to keep as many girls as possible because we have a strong team. And in terms of sports, we hope to do as well, or even better. It took us time to go up, now we hope to establish the club in D3. It would be a shame to go back down.
Before the holidays, there will be the MarsCup on June 13 and 14, where you are the defending champions. Is the goal to keep the trophy and end the season on a good note? This year, I think it will be even better than previous years, because mentally, the end of the season is tough. The MarsCup allows us to have fun. Plus, we can all play together again. We are looking forward to the tournament, especially us, the suspended players (laughs). I miss the competition!
