In the context of the twinning that has united the municipality with the Spanish city of Ateca for twenty-eight years, the Atecanos recently visited Lèzat. On this occasion, the Ateca Harmony also made the trip, much to the delight of the twinning committee in Lèzat-Ateca.
The presence of the Spanish musicians added a special dimension to this annual meeting. Throughout the weekend, the Harmony set the tone for the festivities by animating the Spring Fair before giving a highly appreciated concert in the evening on the town hall square, in front of a large audience.
The highlight of this visit, dedicated to French-Spanish friendship, was a joint performance with the Lèzat Drum and Brass Band Harmony, organized the following day at the Rural Community Center, offering a beautiful moment of musical sharing between the two groups. Under the direction of Audrey Ferner-Escaich, the musicians from Lèzat offered a concert rich in emotions and musical diversity, playing iconic pieces such as “Life is Beautiful,” “Sara perche ti amo,” “Bullfighter Grande,” “Rasputin,” “The Miners” and “The Lakes of Connemara.” The Spanish musicians, under the direction of Luismi Palatin, also delivered a highly applauded performance.
The culmination of this French-Spanish musical meeting was the joint interpretation of two pieces, Hegoak and Funkytown, played by all the musicians united on stage. A particularly strong moment marked by a true musical communion, where despite languages and boundaries, the music brought together all participants and the audience. The musicians from both harmonies were warmly applauded at the end of the concert.
Moved by this joint performance, Carmelo Lopez, president of the Ateca Harmony, and Adrien Thacker, president of the Lèzat Drum and Brass Band Harmony, praised the quality of this musical exchange and the spirit of fraternity that animated this meeting. After a friendly meal shared in a musical and festive atmosphere, the Atecanos happily returned home, delighted with their stay in Lèzat.
Throughout the weekend, music, exchanges, and moments of fraternity punctuated this meeting under the sign of French-Spanish friendship. The Spanish visitors warmly thanked the organizers and residents for the welcome they received, highlighting the generosity and conviviality they experienced during their time in Lèzat.
Before their departure, they invited the people of Lèzat to Ateca in 2027 to continue and nurture this beautiful relationship of friendship and twinning that has united the two municipalities for many years.
