Paris Saint-Germain reaches record popularity after Champions League victory
A record level of popularity for the capital’s club. On Tuesday, March 17, under the leadership of Luis Enrique, PSG thrilled football fans and the French by convincingly defeating Chelsea (0-3) in the round of 16 of the Champions League. They will face Liverpool in the quarter-finals, a team they had beaten last year on their way to the final victory.
Following this qualification for the next round of the Champions League, PSG’s popularity has peaked: 73% of football fans and 49% of French people have a positive opinion of the Parisian club. Predictions for a Champions League win are also at an all-time high, with 55% of French people and 76% of football fans believing PSG will win.
These percentages are much higher than last year. When asked about the current level of PSG, only 25% of football fans consider the club weaker this year compared to last season.
Ousmane Dembele, a reference for PSG supporters
Despite being sidelined due to injury and managed carefully by his coach, Ousmane Dembele remains a benchmark in the eyes of football fans (50%) and PSG supporters (45%), who consider him the best player of the club this year. With his Ballon d’Or in 2025 but still inconsistent in 2025-2026, he surpasses Désiré Doué (27%) and Bradley Barcola (27%), while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (4th, 25%) and Vitinha (5th, 24%) also make it to the top 5 of football fans.

The survey was conducted online on March 18 and 19 among a sample of 1,005 French people aged 18 and over, including 90 football fans and 227 PSG supporters.
