The direction of Ciné Toiles in Digne-les-Bains (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence) recently welcomed members of the Rotary Club, partners in a solidarity operation for research on brain diseases. Under the presidency of Laurent Salori, the Rotarians congratulated the large turnout who came to discover the film “Compostelle” in preview as part of the “Hope in Mind” initiative.
The president welcomed the presence of young people from SOS Children’s Village, invited by the club members to this evening, and thanked the members of the Lions Club and Inner Wheel for their support.
He recalled that “Hope in Mind” is a national operation promoted by Rotary for over 20 years. During this month of March, 450 cinemas in France are participating in this initiative. “We are fortunate to discover this film in preview with Alexandra Lamy. It is an ode to hope, a strong message for youth and life in general. We are happy to be associated with this cause,” he emphasized.
Before the screening, a documentary allowed viewers to learn about significant numbers: in France, one million people have Alzheimer’s disease, 2.5 million suffer from depression, 600,000 from epilepsy or schizophrenia, 200,000 from Parkinson’s disease, and 1.6 million from bipolar disorders. These serious, neurological, or psychiatric diseases, often stigmatizing and always debilitating, all have in common that they affect the same organ: the brain.
The donations collected during this operation will contribute to advancing research and improving, in the long run, public health and well-being. A big thank you to all those who participated in this evening dedicated to solidarity and hope.
