Christophe Chabot, president of Vendée Football club La Roche-sur-Yon, was the guest of ICI Loire Océan after the club’s promotion to Ligue 3.

The Vendée Football club La Roche-sur-Yon is on cloud nine since the official promotion of the club to Ligue 3, the future name of the National championship. The promotion was achieved during the last match on Saturday, May 16th in Locminé. It had been over 20 years since the club had reached this level. President Christophe Chabot hopes to settle in and convince local authorities (city and department) to build a new stadium. He was a guest on ICI Loire Océan.

When asked a few days after the promotion if the euphoria had subsided, Christophe Chabot admitted that it had “subsided fairly quickly, as we need to prepare for the new season, the club falls back into a world we don’t know.” The club left the 3rd division over twenty years ago, and this level will see significant changes.

This year is the end of National, making way for Ligue 3, which will consist of only professional clubs. No more semi-pro, semi-amateur teams. This means salary management and training centers. “We already have this training mindset, so we can take it to the next level.”

The budget, 1.6 million this season, is expected to increase by around 800 thousand euros through additional partnerships. Christophe Chabot also hopes to provide the club with a new stadium “a clean little stadium dedicated to us.” Currently, the footballers share Desgranges stadium with the rugby team.
