Villefranche-de-Lauragais will be hosting a heritage hike, an eloquence contest, and a seniors’ stay in the coming weeks.

The “Nature & Heritage” hikes organized by the Lauragais Tourist Office are back, starting on Saturday, March 21st, at 9:30 am. The hike will explore the Tour du Télégaphe loop, covering approximately 14 km through the hilly landscapes and typical villages of Lauragais.

During the hike, a guide will provide explanations about the history of Chappe’s telegraphs and the heritage of the villages along the way. A picnic break under the trees will offer a relaxing moment in nature.

In the afternoon, there will be a walk around the lake with Quentin from the Arbres et Paysages d’Autan association. He will offer an introduction to identifying plants and trees around the lake, making the discovery both fun and educational.

The eloquence contest will take place on Friday, March 20th, at 7:30 pm at Lycée Léon-Blum, following the theme “Rights. Justice. Action. For all women and girls.” The event will feature musical interludes with Schooet.

The municipality is organizing the 4th edition of the “Seniors on Holiday” stay for Villefranchois aged 60 and above. Participants will enjoy a sunny break near Hyères from October 4th to 11th, 2026, at the La Londe-les-Maures holiday village, with amenities and activities for both day and night.

Accommodation will be in a holiday village with full board, priced between €298.34 and €510.34 depending on income. Limited to 50 participants, registrations are open from March 10th to 26th, 2026, at the municipal social center.
