Eva Longoria trades the Croisette for the streets of Var. Just arriving on the French Riviera for the Cannes Film Festival, Eva Longoria skipped the glamorous evenings for a dinner. She headed to Var, where the actress known from “Desperate Housewives” found a special place she loves.
One of the most anticipated faces at the Cannes Film Festival is Eva Longoria, a 51-year-old actress, director, producer, and L’Oréal Paris ambassador since 2005. She arrived on the French Riviera on Sunday, May 17, for the 79th edition of the festival. But before facing the red carpet flashes, the American star chose a different scene: a village in Var, far from the Cannes hustle and bustle.
On May 18, she shared several photos on Instagram of this getaway. The caption was simply “South of France.” In the pictures, she can be seen dining at the restaurant Chez Bruno in the Var town of Lorgues. The establishment, owned by Benjamin Bruno, is a gastronomic institution in the region, well-known beyond French borders. George Clooney also discreetly stopped by in February 2024. For Eva Longoria, this place holds a special meaning. She had already visited in 2017 with her husband Jose Baston to celebrate their wedding anniversary. A return to her roots for one of the stars of “Desperate Housewives.”
Prestigious dishes centered around truffle
At Chez Bruno, it’s a true culinary journey focused on truffles. The menus vary depending on the chosen truffle variety. For example, the Tuber Uncinatum menu is offered at 98 euros. It starts with a chestnut cream from Piedmont with foie gras, followed by the famous “Plat d’Anthologie” (baked potato, truffle cream, and generous grated truffle), then braised beef cheeks in red wine truffle risotto, cheese, and desserts by pastry chef Damien Goelen. Going up in price, the Tuber Melanosporum menu costs 187 euros, and the all-truffle tasting menu is at 218 euros. There is also a vegetarian option, ranging from 98 euros to 187 euros depending on the selected truffles. Chez Bruno immortalized Eva Longoria’s visit on Instagram the same day. A great advertisement for a Michelin-starred restaurant that doesn’t really need it anymore.
Passionate about France and its gastronomy, Eva Longoria has already highlighted French terroir in her documentary series “Searching for France,” which explores French gastronomy. But even though she seems to have a strong taste for truffles, the American actress recently revealed to the magazine “Envols” that her favorite dish is Alsatian: sauerkraut.
