A greenhouse facility in Carroll County partially collapsed on Friday, county officials said.
Carroll County deputies and fire crews responded to the 8000 block of Sixes Bridge Road for reports of an explosion, an official told WBAL-TV 11 News. Agencies eventually learned that a hot-water holding tank ruptured and 180-degree water spilled in the area.
Officials said the incident happened at Catoctin Mountain Nursery around 5 p.m.
Several people with injuries were taken to hospitals on Friday afternoon, officials said. The three people injured are all employees at the nursery.
The Maryland State Fire Marshall said a 65-year-old man was taken to a burn center with critical injuries. Two other people suffered burn injuries. One went to a hospital while the other refused treatment.
Jonathan Light, with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, initially said it was “an industrial accident involving an explosion and partial building collapse.”

Light said the scene has been stabilized, and officials are investigating the cause of the ruptured holding tank.
Officials accounted for all the individuals at the facility, Light said.
