One of the most anticipated screenings of the 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival. “Garance,” the new film from César-nominated director Jeanne Herry (“Pupille,” “Je verrai toujours vos visages”), was screened at the Palais des Festivals on Sunday, May 17 in the early evening.
The film, by the daughter of Miou-Miou and Julien Clerc, stars Sara Giraudeau and Adèle Exarchopoulos as a young alcoholic actress struggling with her addictions and professional and personal challenges. A drama that will need to convince the jury of Park Chan-wook before hitting French theaters on September 23.
Cate Blanchett, as well as Julianne Moore in her long red dress, brought a touch of Hollywood glamour to the steps. The latter is on the Croisette to receive the Women In Motion award, given every year to an iconic figure in the seventh art whose achievements and commitments are advancing the role of women in the film industry.
Other celebrities were present on Sunday. Carla Bruni was seen in a dazzling dress, Emmanuelle Béart in a leather ensemble, Daniel Auteuil with his face framed by sideburns in a suit with a bow tie, while Colman Domingo opted for a purple fringed shirt. Bella Hadid, who was starting to attract attention in Cannes, appeared in a white satin dress arm in arm with her brother, Anwar Hadid.
