A new trial for rape against former Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein ended in New York without the jury reaching a verdict, the prosecutor’s office announced on Friday. The district attorney of Manhattan, Alvin Bragg, expressed disappointment that the judge declared a mistrial in the absence of a verdict, while the victim, a former aspiring actress, has been “fighting for justice” for nearly ten years.

This was the third trial in this case, following the overturning of an initial conviction of Harvey Weinstein in 2020, and the failure of a previous jury to reach a verdict in 2025. According to Jessica Mann, aged 27 at the time of the alleged incident being judged since mid-April in the New York State Supreme Court, the American producer raped her in his hotel room in Manhattan in March 2013. The defense claims that the sexual relationship was consensual.

Accused of sexual violence by more than 80 women

“We will decide on our next steps in consultation with Ms. Mann and taking into account the pending criminal conviction of Harvey Weinstein, following last year’s guilty verdict for the sexual assault in 2006 of a former production assistant, Miriam Haley,” the prosecution said. The 74-year-old founder of Miramax studios has appealed.

During the same trial in 2025, the producer of “Pulp Fiction” and “Shakespeare in Love” was also acquitted of a presumed sexual assault the same year on a Polish model, Kaja Sokola. Harvey Weinstein, who now moves in a wheelchair due to health problems, also appealed his 2023 conviction in California to 16 years in prison for raping a European actress more than ten years prior. Over 80 women have accused him of sexual violence since 2017.
