The new ‘Cult Evening’ will take place on Friday, March 20, 2026 in the Prade room in Pradines from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Pop culture, science, quizzes, prizes to be won, popcorn: the concept is simple, spend an evening in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where science is always where you least expect it. Suitable for all ages from 10 years old, the theme will be “When insects inspire pop culture.”
Monsters, aliens, zombies, and science in Pradines
Monsters, aliens, and zombies are everywhere in pop culture! But do their behaviors have a basis in biology? During the evening, Mathieu Lihoreau, a researcher at CNRS specializing in the study of insect intelligence, will try to answer various questions: How does a horde organize?
The “queen” of monsters versus the queen bee: what role within the group? Can Ridley Scott’s Alien “learn”? Could a fungus really control our brain like in The Last of Us?
An animated and friendly evening
The objective of the evening is to develop interest in science and innovation through popular culture. Animated and friendly, these evenings allow us to decipher our favorite series, movies, and video games in the company of scientific experts who are also passionate about pop culture.
The evening is punctuated by interactive moments during which the audience votes and gives their opinion.
