Francesca Albanese, known for denouncing the genocide in Palestine, has been labeled as an enemy by the Trump administration. Despite their alignment with Israel’s colonial policy, the White House recently faced a setback when U.S. Judge Richard Leon suspended the sanctions against the UN special rapporteur for Palestinian territories on May 13.

The judge emphasized the importance of protecting freedom of expression in his ruling, where he issued a temporary injunction against the sanctions imposed on Albanese. The rapporteur, who was sanctioned in July 2025 for criticizing Washington’s Gaza policy, welcomed the decision on social media, saying, “Together, we are one.”

Meanwhile, Secretary of State Marco Rubio has criticized the UN rapporteur for her reports detailing the harmful aspects of the Israel-U.S. alliance, particularly for suggesting arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The rapporteur’s reports have highlighted the complicity of U.S. companies and condemned the illegal occupation of Gaza, leading to personal attacks from the White House.

Supporters of Israel have also targeted the rapporteur with false claims of antisemitism whenever she discusses the genocidal actions in Gaza, as recognized by the UN and various organizations. Albanese, who has continuously raised concerns about these targeted sanctions aimed at undermining her mission, expressed gratitude to those who supported her.

In support of Palestinian rights, a French media outlet has advocated for the establishment of a viable Palestinian state in accordance with UN resolutions and has promoted peace in the Middle East. Readers are encouraged to contribute to ensure continued coverage of events in the region.
