A man in his thirties has suffered critical injuries during a shark attack at Rottnest Island, off Perth.Â
A St John WA ambulance spokesperson said the man was bitten by the shark just before 10am today at Geordie Bay.
The man was attacked at Jordy Bay on the north of the island. (ABC News)
The man was transported by boat to a jetty where paramedics performed CPR.Â

The RAC rescue helicopter was sent to Rottnest Island in the aftermath of the attack.

In a statement, the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) said a report of a possible shark bite was received around 9:54am.
DPIRD has urged people to take extra caution in the Geordie Bay area and that it is working with local authorities to coordinate its response.Â

It comes after a public report was made around 10am this morning of an approximately 5-metre white shark sighted at Thomson Bay nearby.
Rottnest Island is a popular tourist destination off Perth’s coast.
