Association Filmoscopie: A Return to Family Dynamics in Cinema

For its 2026-2027 season, the Filmoscopie association has made an unprecedented choice. They have decided to revisit a theme explored in the past.
The films shown in L’Aigle (Orne) will once again focus on generational clashes and parent-child relationships.
A Challenge to the Media
Association President, Jean-Louis Beauvais, insists that this return is not due to a lack of inspiration. The idea stemmed from a previous article mentioning how “young people are turning away from certain types of cinema.”
This view is deemed “somewhat reductionist” by the association.
“We do everything we can to attract young people. Since we can’t necessarily bring them in physically, they will be on the big screen!”
Initially addressed in the early 2010s, the theme now takes on a whole new dimension.
A New Perspective on Youth
“At the time, the selected films spoke of an unhappy childhood due to lack of love,” recalls Jean-Louis Beauvais. Fifteen years later, “the issues have evolved.”
“Today, we will talk about excessive love, overprotection. It’s a youth seeking emancipation. The reasons for the clash are no longer the same.”

The six selected films this time will explore family conflicts across different cultures and generations. Themes such as sexuality, politics, and authority will be central to the new programming.
Schedule Starting From October
- Prima la vita by Francesca Comencini on October 14;
- Lady Bird by Greta Gerwig on November 18;
- Elephant by Gus Van Sant on December 16;
- Jouer avec le feu by Delphine and Muriel Coulin on January 20, 2027;
- Elaha by Milena Aboyan on March 10, 2027;
- Les Graines du figuier sauvage by Mohammad Rasoulof on April 7, 2027.
The programming was unveiled during the association’s general assembly, held at the end of April in the presence of around fifteen people, including several municipal officials such as Mayor Véronique Louwagie and Culture Deputy Didier Cousin.
An Evolving Association
The general assembly also allowed for a reflection on the past season. Filmoscopie currently has 41 members, with an average of 28.5 attendees per session, along with approximately eight non-member spectators each time.
The membership fee remains set at €35 per year, less than six euros per session. The association’s financial report is deemed “positive.”
Discussions also focused on the future. Should the screening day be changed? From Wednesday to Friday? For now, there will be no changes.
However, a new feature will be introduced this season. Association members will now take turns presenting the films. This is another way to refresh perspectives and bring cinema nights to life in a different way!
