As part of the European Days of Mills and Milling Heritage, under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture, the Neylis Mill in Carla-de-Roquefort is innovating.

A few years ago, there was a parade of vintage cars; this Saturday, May 17 at 5 pm, it will be the Occitans from the country of Olmes and Ariège who will perform a theater piece: “La Sopa al piston,” a work by Alain Vidal that will be a pleasure to see or revisit (voluntary contribution).

Like many of them, mills date back to a very distant time. Those in Carla are from the 13th century; the Moulinette mill, owned by the Tolosa family, is not open to the public, only the Neylis one is open. This Saturday, visits will start at 2 pm and end at 5 pm. The next day, from 10 am to noon and from 2 pm to 5 pm.

Explanations will be given by the owners, who are members of the FDMF (Federation of Mills in France). For them, it will be an opportunity to talk about this local heritage that has been restored and admired by the public, both young and old.

As national president Alain Eyquem rightly says, “mills, as actors of the river, are part of a collective approach for the benefit of all.” This will be confirmed this weekend in Carla-de-Roquefort.
