The United States has lost several aircraft since the beginning of their joint offensive with Israel on February 28.
An American F-35 fighter jet was forced to make an emergency landing at a U.S. base in the Middle East, the army announced on Thursday, March 19, with American media reporting that it may have been hit by an alleged Iranian shot.
“The aircraft landed safely and the pilot is in stable condition,” said U.S. Army spokesman Captain Tim Hawkins in a statement.
“An investigation is underway,” he added, without confirming whether an Iranian shot was behind the emergency procedure as CNN and ABC report.
13 American soldiers have been killed since the beginning of the war against Iran: seven in Tehran’s attacks on U.S. bases in the Middle East, specifically in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, and six in the crash of their aircraft.
The U.S. Army has reported approximately 200 of its soldiers injured in seven different countries, including ten “seriously,” according to a report released earlier this week.
