The film culture association of the Le Douron cinema in Plestin-les-Grèves came together for a general meeting on Thursday, May 13th, around its president, Marie-Thérèse Le Pape, who reminded that the association’s mission is to bring cinema to life and to showcase films of all genres.
“Nationally, the year 2025 was a mixed year for cinema in theaters, with a declining market. With 32,174 admissions for 287 films and 1,449 screenings, our cinema recorded a decrease in activity due, in part, to fewer successful films and perhaps due to overly sunny weather during the summer,” explained the president, who then thanked “all volunteers for their activities throughout the year and for the excellent management of the association’s accounts.”
Encouraging prospects
“Since the beginning of the year, the trend has been towards a recovery and that is quite encouraging,” announced Marie-Thérèse Le Pape. “Unlike last year, the best month of 2025 was December with 4,639 admissions. Throughout the year, the cinema presented 42 films in national release, including 13 films in preview,” she added. “For 2026, we hope to reach 39,000 admissions, continue the repertory cycle, support short films, obtain the Research and Discovery label, and also conduct a study for the renovation of the seats in screening room 1,” concluded the president.
