Important points:
- Chinese companies would be preparing secret arms sales to Iran.
- The New York Times revealed this information, as shipments are reportedly routed through other countries to conceal their origin.
- Our journalist Amal Laoui provides an update on LCI.
Could China be delivering arms to Iran in secret? According to the New York Times, this is what the US intelligence has reported, based on information from American officials.
“Chinese equipment would thus transit through several countries before reaching Iran,” explains our journalist Amal Laoui on LCI, as seen in the video at the top of this article. “Materials often leave China through platforms like Hong Kong or Shenzhen and then pass through intermediary states, such as the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Malaysia, and countries in Central Asia.”

This process would blur the tracks, as shipments could change hands several times, along with customs documents, and sometimes even official destinations. “This complex operation allows concealment of the origin of the shipments,” summarizes Amal Laoui. The weapons in question are not tanks or combat planes, but rather dual-use weapons, as reported by the American newspaper.
These are equipment that could have both civilian and military applications, such as electronic components or batteries that could be used for both cars and the production of Iranian drones. There are also navigation and guidance systems, materials like titanium or aluminum, as well as surveillance and radar equipment.
