In an interview with Le Bonbon media on Tuesday, May 12th, the actress from “L’Amour et les Forêts” revealed that she had been harassed and followed by overly insistent admirers.

In Ashgar Farhadi’s new film “Histoires parallèles,” which is in competition for the Palme d’Or at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, Virginie Efira plays the role of Nita, a foley artist spied on by Sylvie, a writer struggling for inspiration played by Isabelle Huppert.

Virginie Efira shared her experience of being confronted by an obsessive admirer waiting outside her home. She mentioned having encountered situations that felt like scenes from a movie, with cars following her.

She also mentioned speaking to some of her harassers in an attempt to understand them and discourage them from following her again. She recalled telling them that a relationship requires both parties and expressed that the situation was strange.

In 2017, Virginie Efira spoke out about being harassed for eight years by a man who would wait for her, write letters to her, and even enroll her in funeral insurance. She eventually sought police protection after discovering that the admirer was distributing flyers with her address.

At the time of these incidents, Virginie Efira was a television host on the show “Nouvelle Star” on M6. She reflected on the overwhelming amount of mail she received at that time and humorously noted the change in attention she receives now.
