For the third year running, the short film festival “Pirineos Mountain Film Festival” is coming to Pari on Friday, May 15th. This provides an opportunity to delve into the mountain world from different perspectives, according to Laure Bertrand, the deputy mayor of Tarbes.
Six films will be screened starting from 6 p.m. Among them, viewers can journey to Switzerland for a climbing adventure, experience Chamonix with high mountain guides, explore the bearded vultures in the Pyrenees, winners of the Best Nature Short Film award, and even venture further with Norwegian and American films.
These “spectacular” shorts have been carefully selected from a pool of twenty films out of hundreds submitted to the jury from all around the world, including Europe, Australia, and South America. They are specifically curated for this festival and cannot be found on platforms like YouTube, says Laure Bertrand.
The Pyrenees, “a link” – The main goal of the festival is to serve as a platform for mountain culture in the Pyrenees. The films will also be shown in Huesca and two other Spanish cities, in addition to Tarbes.
The Pyrenees are not a border but a connection, as emphasized by the founder of the festival, David Asensio. This emphasis on unity will be highlighted during the Friday night screening in Tarbes. It’s a significant event to showcase the relationship between the capital of Bigorre and Huesca, not just an ordinary twinning, as emphasized by Mayor Pascal Claverie. Don’t hesitate to come and enjoy an evocative experience, open to all, whether you are a mountain enthusiast or part of the general public.
Admission is free, but you need to reserve your seat at the Nouveautés center (05 62 93 47 27) or at Pari (05 62 51 12 00). Tickets can be collected from the ticket office of both establishments until Friday at 5 p.m. Screening on Friday, May 15th at 6 p.m. at Pari.
