On Wednesday, May 20th, at the Saint-Quentin Train Station, 5 different dictations will take place at 10am, 11am, 12pm, 2pm, and 3pm. This event is open and free to everyone aged 7 to 99. Notebooks and pencils will be provided to participants.

“The Dictation at the Station” highlights the commitment to promoting reading among a wide audience, shared by France Culture and SNCF Gares & Connexions. In addition to raising awareness about mastering the French language, the goal is to create connections between individuals from diverse backgrounds. The event aims to be welcoming and inclusive to all.

For the past ten years, Rachid Santaki, a writer and screenwriter, has taken the dictation out of schools to diverse locations, making it a popular and grand exercise. The novelist has already selected over 500 texts in correctional facilities, urban neighborhoods, the Stade de France, as well as on social media and France Culture. This will continue as a weekly event until the summer of 2022, with podcasts available on the radio station’s website and the Radio France app.

A subsidiary of SNCF Réseau, SNCF Gares & Connexions specializes in railway stations, from design to operation, including the commercialization of spaces. With 3,000 French stations, it is committed to constantly improving services for its 10 million daily passengers and visitors, enhancing operational quality, developing new services, and modernizing its facilities. Believing that stations are integral living spaces, it transforms these “urban villages” to promote culture to all audiences.

Upcoming dates include June 17th in Dieppe, July 1st in Pau, September 16th in Lyon Part-Dieu, October 7th in Nancy, November 18th in Tours, and December 2nd in Lorient.
