Ligue 2: LFP opens an investigation after the incidents in Bastia

The discipline committee of the Professional Football League (LFP) announced on Sunday, May 10, the opening of an “investigation” after the interruption in stoppage time of the decisive match of the last day of Ligue 2 between Bastia and Le Mans at the Furiani stadium on Saturday due to smoke bombs.

“Convened on Sunday, May 10, the discipline committee of the LFP has decided to open an investigation into the incidents related to the SC Bastia – Le Mans FC match counting for the 34th day of Ligue 2,” the league said in a statement.

The LFP specified that “given the urgency and in order to ensure the smooth running of the competitions (…), the discipline committee will rule on this matter at its meeting on Wednesday, May 13.”

While Le Mans was leading 2-0, a result that secured its promotion to Ligue 1 and relegated Bastia, smoke bombs were thrown in the 91st minute, just after the second Le Mans goal. The referee then decided to stop the match, which never resumed.
