The 2026 World Cup will once again feature Shakira’s voice as the soundtrack. According to Paris Match in an article published on May 8, the Colombian artist will release “Dai Dai” on May 14, presented as the new official anthem of the tournament to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
A short excerpt shared on Instagram allows a glimpse of footage filmed at the Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro, as well as a preview of the song’s rhythm. The video also announces the return of the choreographies that contributed to the global success of “Waka Waka” in 2010.
This new collaboration with FIFA has sparked reactions on social media. Some internet users point out a lack of variety in the choice of artists responsible for musically representing the competition. Shakira, in fact, becomes one of the few singers to be associated with three editions of the World Cup.
Since the 1990s, World Cup anthems have regularly been entrusted to international stars like Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, or Pitbull. French-speaking artists have also made their mark on the tournament’s history, including Vegedream with “Ramenez la coupe à la maison” in 2018, and Gims, present on “Ahbo” during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
