In Bayonne, the race is expected to start at 3:50 p.m. covering 12 kilometers through the city, passing between Saint-Bernard and Saint-Amand, including the Hauts de Bayonne, Saint-Esprit neighborhood, Grand Bayonne, Saint-Léon, and Les Arènes, according to the municipality. The festivities will continue later in the day with a musical parade and more, as Guy Mondorge points out.
In Anglet, La Passem is set to enter the town around 5 p.m. passing by the Anglet town hall at 5:21 p.m., with a brief stop at the Boulevard des plages to Chambre d’Amour at 5:45 p.m.
La Passem, what is it?
Created in 2018 and organized by the Ligams association, La Passem happens every two years. Its goal: to promote the Occitan language and culture. Passing through Gascon territories provides cultural activities and media coverage. The race also helps raise funds. Over the course of ten days, the race is divided into 2,000 relays of approximately one kilometer each, available for sale at 100 euros per unit. The money collected from the kilometers purchased is then redistributed by Ligams through projects supporting the Gascon language and culture, offering significant financial support, according to Guy Mondorge.
Entertainment from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
While waiting for the race to arrive at the esplanade of La Barre, various activities and dining options are scheduled throughout the day at the same location, based on a program established by the Hestas e Pastoralas in Baish Ador association. The finish line village will open at 10 a.m. with a Gascon producers market (until 4 p.m.), followed by various activities like traditional hunts for both adults and children, bowling games, music, exhibitions, Gascon films screenings, and more.
A free musical performance is scheduled for 5 p.m., titled “A tot vedent”. This show was specially created for the occasion by Fanny Chételain, a professional musician leading the Charnègue Arraditz polyphonic trio. Following the relay’s arrival, a free concert-dance with the quartet Minvielle-Tisnér, Galatic Aulhères, and Karnahas will start at 8 p.m. The festivities will conclude around 11:30 p.m.
