The Coco-girls have marked a whole generation! This girls-band from the 80s, created by Stéphane Collaro, was a great success, even going on tour in the 90s. “They are not sad to look at, but we will also hear them. Because it annoys me to see beautiful girls treated like dolls on TV shows. The four I have, I will try to make them the darlings of the viewers. I will make them talk, move, dance, sing. I want them to be sexy and funny,” explained Stéphane Collaro, in October 1982. A bet that was quite successful!

To remember, the first Coco-girls were Sophie Favier (1982-1984), Terry Shane (1982-1984), Natasha Guineaudeau (1982-1985), and Nathalie Tardivel (1982-1987). Over the years, others have joined.

Sophie Favier reveals how she became a Coco-girl

On Sunday, May 3, 2026, Sophie Favier opened up in the podcast “Destins de Femmes.” Speaking to Valérie Perez, the 62-year-old host recounts how her encounter with Jean-Claude Corbineau changed her life. When asked “How does one become a Coco-girl?” Sophie Favier responds: “On a beach in Saint-Tropez. I had gone on vacation for a few days with my mom and my stepfather who was Italian and worked on very famous boats, all in sublime wood, like the ones you always see in Venice, for example. And we had delivered a boat to a rich American”. The mission that led to this famous encounter.

“But what was Stéphane Collaro looking for exactly? “He was looking for pretty women. So I was 18 years old and I lived in Lyon and it was good timing because they were doing castings. I wanted to enroll in college to become a lawyer and I didn’t have time because I was selected. So I embraced a completely different career,” she explains.

Did Sophie Favier feel respected during her years as a Coco-girl?

When Valérie Perez asked Sophie Favier if she felt respected during that time, she answered without hesitation: “Honestly yes.” She added: “We really didn’t have time. So of course with laughter, cursing. I think it wouldn’t happen like that today. It was a bit cheeky at times. It was the whole Philippe Bouvard gang, they were jokers.”

While Sophie Favier has fond memories of her years as a Coco-girl, the host admits that dealing with this celebrity was not always easy: “Suddenly you become famous with the money that comes along with the salary. It’s important when you’re young, you want to have a bit of money to have fun. I didn’t have time to have fun because I worked all the time.” An intense lifestyle that led to a profound sense of loneliness.
