The Sant Jordi brought together residents and families around the book and the rose. The event was organized by the media library with Virginie Champenois, in partnership with the town hall, the communal social action center (CCAS) and the after-school program with Tanya Vandenberghen, as well as the twinning committee of Baga. It testifies to a strong local dynamic and a strong connection with Catalan culture. The day started at the media library with an exhibition of drawings by children from the village schools and Baga, as well as the presentation of a comic strip created as part of the after-school program. A thematic table allowed to rediscover the legend, while a book exchange promoted the transmission of the love of reading. In the afternoon, bilingual tales and readings brought a poetic atmosphere. One of the highlights of the day was the reading of poems by Tanya, read at the CCAS, followed by the sung poem by Jacques Vandenberghen, her father, offering a moment full of emotion. Sasha Auguet’s poem, “The Laureate”, dedicated to her family, was unanimous and deeply moved the audience.
