The arrival at the Karen Demirtchian Complex in Yerevan of the guests of the European Political Community summit, the first one organized in the Caucasus, was broadcast live this Monday, May 4th by News.am, a media outlet that, like most Armenian news websites, reported the comments and preliminary statements of the main officials present.

This format brings together countries from the continent to the Caucasus, excluding Russia and Belarus. Its first edition was held in Prague in October 2022, a few months after the start of the war against Ukraine.

“This event will focus on strengthening cooperation in areas such as energy, transportation, digital technologies, and logistics infrastructure. Special attention will be given to current global issues, including the situation in Ukraine and the consequences of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East,” News.am stated.

“A positive signal”

Armenia had never hosted such a large-scale diplomatic summit before. “The fact that this summit is being held in Yerevan shows the importance of the Caucasus, especially during this period of war in Iran,” said Kaja Kallas, representative of the European Union diplomacy, as reported by Armenpress.
