“If I only talk about my performance, it’s a lot of frustration. However, our two other cars represented our team well. We will keep these two performances in mind.” Samuel Gurnaud, president of Team Chaumont Auto Sport (TCAS), prefers to keep smiling after the weekend at the Rallye de Lorraine on Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3. Out of the three teams involved, two came back with “class” victories.

These strong performances contrast with the bad luck that hit the Chaumont director behind the wheel of his 106. “We barely covered 250 meters in the first timed special of the race when our fuel pump gave up: weekend over! Needless to say, the disappointment was enormous.”

Fortunately for the prefectural team, the context was more favorable for the other two “machines.” Quentin and Constant Houillons, in their 306, secured a “class” victory in the “F2000/13” category (23rd overall). After winning the last rally in Mouzon Frézelle, the duo succeeded again on the Nancy side, where the arrival of the Lorraine event was judged. “It wasn’t easy. They had to fight hard on Sunday to reclaim the first place from their direct rivals. But this proves the seriousness and combativeness of this team.”

Samuel Gurnaud could also congratulate Kévin Masson and his co-driver Cyrielle Matterer-Charlier (41st overall). The duo, in their Twingo, also climbed to the top step of the “R1” podium. “Even if they were only two in their ‘class’ category, the battle was quite intense throughout the two days. This remains a victory that deserves to be savored!”

The two winning Chaumont duos will be back behind the wheel in a month, from June 12 to 14, to participate in the Rallye Vosges – Grand Est. “Our two teams will move up to the next level,” said the TCAS president. “It’s a rally from the French championship, the ‘Ligue 1’ of our discipline.”
