“I will soon be studying a plan that Iran has just sent us,” announced the American president on his Truth Social platform on Saturday, as negotiations between the two countries remain at an impasse. “I cannot imagine it being acceptable, because [the Iranians] have not paid a sufficient price for what they have done to humanity and the world for forty-seven years”, added the American president.
According to Iranian news agencies, Iran has sent a 14-point plan to Washington via Pakistan, aiming to resolve the conflict within thirty days. Tasnim agency specifies that Tehran demands a withdrawal of American forces from areas close to Iran, the lifting of the blockade of Iranian ports, unfreezing of Iranian assets, reparations, lifting of sanctions, a “mechanism” concerning the Strait of Hormuz, and “an end to the war on all fronts, including Lebanon.”
Tasnim does not mention the nuclear issue, which is crucial for the United States and Israel, accusing Iran of seeking to acquire nuclear weapons – a claim Iran denies. Questioned by journalists on Saturday evening in Florida, Donald Trump refused to specify what could trigger new military operations against Iran. “If they misbehave, if they do something wrong… But for now, we will see, he said. But it is certainly a possibility.”
