The Canadian team for the mixed 4x100m relay won their qualifying heat on Saturday in Botswana at the World Relay Championships, setting a new world record in the process. The team of Eliezer Adjibi, Marie-Éloïse Leclair, Duan Asemota, and Audrey Leduc crossed the finish line in 40.08 seconds. However, their record was quickly broken by Jamaica in 39.99 seconds.

Canada is the defending champion in this event, having won gold in 2025 with a time of 40.30 seconds, ahead of Jamaica (40.44s) and Great Britain (40.88s).

Leduc and Leclair also teamed up with Sade McCreath and Donna Ntambue in the 4x100m relay, qualifying for the final by finishing 2nd in their heat in 42.39 seconds.

The Canadian relay runners also secured the top spot in their group for the 4x400m relay. Dianna Proctor clocked a time of 3 minutes 23.52 seconds, supported by Grace Konrad, Jasneet Nijjar, and Lauren Gale.

On the men’s side, Canadians Aaron Brown, Brendon Rodney, Jerome Blake, and Andre De Grasse took first place in their heat, clocking a time of 37.56 seconds, the fastest time recorded this season. They also booked their spot in the final.

The top 12 teams in each of the 4x100m and 4x400m relay events for men, women, and mixed genders at the Botswana event have qualified for the 2027 World Championships in Beijing.

The finals are set to take place on Sunday. ICI TOU.TV will be broadcasting the live competitions without commentary.
