An Iranian official deems a resumption of war with the United States likely

A senior Iranian military official on Saturday considered a resumption of war with the United States “likely,” following Donald Trump’s rejection of a new offer from Tehran to restart peace negotiations.

A ceasefire went into effect on April 8, after nearly 40 days of Israeli-American airstrikes on Iran and retaliatory strikes by Tehran in the region. However, talks in Islamabad on April 11 proved fruitless due to significant differences, particularly regarding the Strait of Hormuz and the nuclear issue.

Iran recently sent a new text via Pakistan, but details remain undisclosed. Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the proposal and maintained that resuming war with Iran was still an option.

The Iranian military has presented Trump with options for new military actions, indicating preparedness for any future American adventurism.

Iranian military official Mohammad Jafar Asadi emphasized that a conflict with the U.S. is probable, given the U.S.’s failure to honor promises and agreements. The Iranian armed forces are ready for any reckless actions by Americans.

Despite Trump’s theoretical deadline to seek Congressional authorization for further war efforts, he chose to inform lawmakers that hostilities with Iran were over. However, the presence of U.S. forces in the region suggests otherwise.

While the USS Gerald Ford, the world’s largest aircraft carrier, has left the Middle East, 20 naval vessels, including two other carriers, remain deployed. The war has resulted in thousands of deaths, primarily in Iran and Lebanon, causing ongoing global economic turmoil.

Though bombings have ceased, Washington’s blockade of Iranian ports in response to Tehran’s control of the Strait of Hormuz continues. This has disrupted global oil markets and led to increasing tensions among nations.

The situation has strained relations between the U.S. and European allies, leading the Pentagon to announce the withdrawal of around 5,000 troops from Germany within the next year.

Iranian authorities remain steadfast, rejecting foreign interference and criticizing the U.S. for proliferating nuclear weapons while Iran’s peaceful enrichment of uranium is supervised by the International Atomic Energy Agency.

While some Iranians have attempted to resume normal life amid a fragile truce, economic challenges persist due to inflation and unemployment, worsened by years of international sanctions. The Supreme Leader of Iran has urged companies to avoid layoffs to mitigate the impact of an economic war.

The widespread distress in Iran is evident, with a local expressing concern about the deteriorating situation and predicting escalating stress and tension in the near future.
