Many onlookers crowded around the barriers, hoping to catch a glimpse of the guests. “It seems Catherine Deneuve will be here,” whispers a young woman. Others mention rapper Asap Rocky, Chanel ambassador, and his wife, superstar Rihanna.
“Two young people have just arrived, we don’t know who they are but they must be famous since no one asked for their IDs,” jokes Maryse, a local. Behind the barriers, she chats with two girls from Toulouse who came to see Farruquito in Bayonne the previous day.
In the curious crowd is Salomé, a 15-year-old Malraux high school student, waiting since 5 p.m. “I have a friend whose father is invited to the show. She has inside information and told me. I ran to the market. It’s magical to see Nicole Kidman and Sofia Coppola for real! I’m waiting for Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie,” she exclaims. “Tomorrow, I think I’ll be in front of the Chanel boutique around 9:30 a.m. to try to see the celebrities and models arrive.”
