The Ciné Cité association is organizing two film screening evenings at Planet Ciné in Alençon, Orne, on Monday, April 27, and Tuesday, April 28, 2026. The screenings will be followed by discussions with the film teams.
In focus: sessions dedicated to raising awareness about autism and the journey of a child facing armed conflicts.
An evening focusing on autism
On Monday, April 27 at 8:00 PM, the first evening is organized in partnership with Ornéode and Autism Basse-Normandie. Formerly known as Adapei de l’Orne, the Ornéode association supports people with disabilities and promotes their inclusion.
As part of this autism awareness initiative, two films directed by Tarik Ben Salah will be screened. The first short film, Vulnerables (52 minutes), follows the life of a young autistic man and the measures taken after his disappearance. The second film, After Us (24 minutes), addresses concerns about the future of autistic individuals.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with the director and author of both films, Tarik Ben Salah, as well as producer Daoud Tatou.
“The event aims to be open to all, with the goal of helping the audience better understand autism and discuss it based on the films presented,” said Françoise Arsicaud, president of the Ciné Cité association.
A childhood story in times of war
On Tuesday, April 28 at 8:30 PM, the audience will discover Allah is Not Obliged, an animated film directed by Zaven Najjar, adapted from the novel by Ahmadou Kourouma.
“The story follows Birahima who leaves his native Guinea to stay with his aunt in Liberia. The young boy follows in the footsteps of Yacouba, a storyteller of the highways, who guides him to cross the border. However, on the way, Birahima encounters child soldiers who change his destiny,”
The screening will be attended by screenwriter Karine Winczura, who will also interact with the audience after the screening.
In the afternoon, she will also engage with the students in the cinema option at Marguerite-de-Navarre high school.
