Football – OM struggling
Olympique de Marseille continues to struggle, held to a draw by Nice (1-1) while its competitors for the Champions League win, with Rennes beating Nantes (2-1) and Lille defeating Paris FC (0-1) who were on an impressive eight-game unbeaten streak. OM is sixth, four points behind Lyon and Lille (third and fourth respectively).
Cycling – Seixas makes his mark
Liège-Bastogne-Liège lived up to expectations, with Paul Seixas finishing just behind Tadej Pogacar in a magnificent duel for his first Monument of the season (and the second of his career, following his seventh place at the Tour of Lombardy last year). Remco Evenepoel completes a luxurious podium.
Rugby – Clermont’s big win over Toulouse
Stunned at the Stadium, hosting Stade Toulousain following a Toulouse – Monaco football match (2-2) where TFC wore the same jersey as the footballers: Antoine Dupont (only a substitute) and his teammates were defeated at home by Clermont (24-27), even though being reduced to 14 players in the 23rd minute but ending with a 27-3 victory (including 20-3 after the red card).
Tennis – Fils reaches Madrid last sixteen
Arthur Fils advances at the Madrid Masters 1000, defeating American Emilio Nava in two sets (7-6, 6-3). Tomas Martin Etcheverry will be his opponent in the last sixteen. Unfortunately, Arthur Rinderknech abandoned his match tied against Vit Kopriva due to a calf injury after winning the second set (3-6, 6-3 Ab.)
Moto – One Marquez shines, another falls
Alex Marquez represented the Marquez family at the MotoGP Spanish Grand Prix (in Jerez), as his brother Marc had a heavy fall in the second lap. Marco Bezzechi, the world championship leader, had to settle for second place this time. Of the French riders, Johann Zarco finished a respectable seventh, while Fabio Quartararo ended up fourteenth.
