BMW unveils new BMW 7 Series LCI with the ‘super brain’ technology After extensive testing under camouflage, the iconic model will make its global debut at the upcoming Beijing Auto Show next month. This strategic initiative aims to modernize the flagship range four years after the current generation was launched in 2022, while strengthening BMW’s position against traditional luxury sector competitors and emerging technological players.

The first images reveal a significant change in the car’s front, featuring a more modern and angular design. The daytime running lights have been refined and positioned horizontally, creating a sense of spaciousness. Attention is drawn to the distinctive kidney-shaped grille, wide and square, which incorporates a luminous effect.

Notably, the grille slats, traditionally vertical, are now horizontal, and the headlights are smaller than on the previous model. While the body retains its imposing long wheelbase silhouette, the rear is expected to receive new LED taillights and a slightly redesigned bumper, completing the modernization.

Although retaining the CLAR platform instead of opting for a fully electric architecture, the new BMW 7 Series is the first current model to inherit a technological set from the future Neue Klasse range. The most striking change is in the interior with the introduction of an advanced digital system.

The vehicle is equipped with a BMW Panoramic Vision widescreen that extends across the entire width of the windshield, paired with the brand-new iDrive X operating system. To manage the vast amount of data generated by the intelligent features, BMW has equipped the vehicle with four central control units, internally referred to as ‘Superbrains,’ responsible for in-depth processing of all operational functions and embedded software.

The launch of the redesigned BMW 7 Series is seen as a direct response to Mercedes-Benz’s announcement of a complete overhaul of the S-Class range. However, the challenges faced by the 7 Series extend beyond established brands. In the Chinese market, this sedan faces strong competition from high-tech vehicles, notably the Maextro S800, backed by Huawei.

The combination of a long tradition of German engineering and the most advanced software system of the Neue Klasse is BMW’s solution to retain its affluent clientele in the digital age.
