The British monarch, the current head of state, is heading to the United States from Monday, April 27 for four days to woo Donald Trump, who has been consistently attacking Keir Starmer’s government.
Royal diplomacy is coming to the rescue of the “special relationship” between the United States and the United Kingdom, which has been constantly undermined by Donald Trump for the past few months. Charles III’s state visit across the Atlantic, starting on Monday, April 27 for four days, will see two opposing worlds collide. According to the BBC, this “crucial and high-risk trip will be the toughest test of his reign to date.”
Officially, Charles III and Queen Camilla will “celebrate the historical ties and bilateral relations between the United Kingdom and the United States, marking the occasion of the 250th anniversary of American independence.” However, since the announcement of the trip at the end of last month, Charles III has simply noted that the UK’s relations with its allies are going through a “difficult” period. Donald Trump can hardly disagree, but expressed confidence that this visit could “absolutely” help repair the strained relationship with the UK.
