Over the course of a few hours on the evening of Thursday, April 23, around fifteen tornadoes, ranging from dozens to sometimes hundreds of meters in height, swept through the central United States. During tornado season, these meteorological monsters are as awe-inspiring from the ground as they are from the windows of airliners. In Enid, Oklahoma (United States), the sight of a tornado inexorably approaching homes is both striking and terrifying. “Oh my God, look at that! Come on, take cover immediately!”, comments the author of a video.
Moments later, in some neighborhoods of the city, it looks like scenes from an apocalypse. A man, just emerging from his shelter, comments: “Our homes, everything has been swept away.” He can’t believe his eyes: “Oh my God!”
In Enid, houses have been crushed by the tornado. The walls, the framework, and the furniture now form an indescribable heap of debris. There are dozens of them. Over the past few hours on Friday, many here realize that they have lost everything. Many victims are now homeless. In the city, the tornado only caused about ten minor injuries. Almost a miracle.
