What to know:

This live is now over. The Flammes, a ceremony dedicated to rap and popular cultures, welcomes many of the most listened-to stars in France, including Theodora and Hamza, on Thursday, April 23 at La Seine musicale in Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts-de-Seine). This fourth edition is broadcast online on France.TV and on France 4. Theodora has already received four awards, including the music video of the year. The trio L2B was recognized as the male revelation of the year. Follow our live coverage.

The awards list is expected to echo, in part, that of the recent Victoires de la musique, which rewarded Theodora and Disiz, and also included nominees like Ino Casablanca and L2B, who are also in the running on Thursday night. For the rest, the ceremony highlights a wide array of stars in rap, RnB, afropop, or “new pop” genres.

Theodora is a favorite. Buoyed by a rapid rise since “Kongolese sous BBL” in 2024, Theodora has seven nominations, one of which is in the female artist of the year category. The 22-year-old singer was recognized as the female revelation of the year in the previous edition. Among other female artists, Aya Nakamura is back, alongside less known profiles like Maureen and Meryl from Martinique or the singer Ronisia.

For the male artists, heavyweights like Jul, Ninho, and Gims are nominated, with Gims continuing his concerts amid a widespread money laundering investigation. However, it’s the Belgian rapper and singer Hamza who is a favorite with seven nominations, including one for his trap hit “KYKY2BONDY,” ahead of Parisian rapper Guy2Bezbar with five nominations.
