Ibrahima Konaté “close” to extending his contract at Liverpool
Ibrahima Konaté revealed he was “close to an agreement” to extend his contract at Liverpool, which was due to expire at the end of this season.
“We have been talking with the club for a long time and we are close to an agreement,” said the 26-year-old defender after Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Everton in the Merseyside derby in the Premier League on Sunday.
Having arrived in 2021, the French international (27 caps) is set to commit to an additional five seasons with the Reds.
“I think everyone wanted it to last as long as possible, we are on the right track. There is a good chance that I will be here next season. That’s what I’ve always wanted,” he explained.
Rosenior says he is still supported by the Chelsea owners
Liam Rosenior says he still has the support of the Chelsea owners despite a series of setbacks that have significantly diminished the prospects of participating in the Champions League next season.
Signed from Strasbourg, which is owned by the same consortium, Rosenior arrived in London in early January. Chelsea were then two points off the 5th and final place that qualifies for the Champions League.
When asked on Monday if he felt this support, Rosenior replied “100%”. “They (management) have supported me daily in our conversations, they have been remarkable in the support they have given me, to me and the team,” he continued at a press conference on the eve of a trip to Brighton in an advanced match of the 34th round.
“We all agree that we need to start winning matches now, but that doesn’t contradict what we’re trying to do, which is to offer this club long-term success,” Rosenior added.
Regarding a possible qualification for the Champions League, Enzo Maresca’s successor acknowledges that Chelsea has made things complicated. “We must be honest and realistic about it, but what we cannot afford is to give up. We must keep fighting.”

Could the rumor of Mourinho at Real not be so crazy after all?
There is a growing suggestion in the corridors of the Bernabeu: what if the “Special One” made a comeback to Real Madrid’s bench? This Sunday night, Marca made it clear: there has been no contact between the club and the Portuguese coach. But José Mourinho would not be opposed to any proposal from Florentino Perez. “If this opportunity arises, he will consider it,” wrote the Spanish newspaper, ensuring that the situation could change rapidly.
