The 3rd edition of the “Epinal fait son cinéma” festival, organized by the association Image’Est, concluded on March 22 after six days dedicated entirely to the 7th art. With more than 3,300 entries recorded, including 2,150 for film screenings, this 2026 edition follows the success seen in 2025. The festival boasts an open and eclectic editorial line, showcasing both premiere films – 13 this year, mostly French productions or co-productions – and heritage works. In addition, there are meetings, free activities, and educational initiatives to promote awareness of the cinema industry.

“Taking a step to discover new things and films beyond what the public might usually see” is the philosophy advocated by director Guillaume Poulet. This approach seems to resonate increasingly with audiences ready to explore cultural offerings off the beaten path.

Highlights of this edition included the presence of filmmaker Nathan Ambrosioni as an honorary guest, along with numerous film teams engaging with the public. The festival also paid tribute to documentarian Frederick Wiseman and presented a film-concert featuring short films by Buster Keaton, performed live by La Belle Image Orchestra under the direction of Pieter-Jelle de Boer.

In total, 36 films were screened during 64 public sessions, accompanied by two film-concerts. The festival also brought together 40 cinema professionals, welcomed 670 participants to activities, and allowed 420 students to participate in artistic workshops.

Building on this momentum, “Epinal fait son cinéma” looks ahead to its audience and partners for its 4th edition scheduled from March 16 to 21, 2027.
