For years, while Gad Elmaleh was experiencing wild success, his brother Arié suffered from not being “the brother of.” Coming from Morocco to pursue his dream in France, the young man witnessed his older brother’s rapid rise in the world of comedy. A situation that was not always easy for him, as he currently stars in the 6th season of “Tres Tres,” airing on M6 every Saturday night. Speaking to “Closer” magazine in the March 27th issue, the actor reflected on his challenging beginnings.
“When did Arié Elmaleh want to become an actor?” he explains, “I was 21, taking theater classes, while my brother became a huge star. It was destabilizing, constantly being compared,” he told our colleagues. This position led to constant questioning of his true intentions. Arié had to prove that his passion for comedy came from within, not just as a response to his brother’s success. “Some thought I was copying, but it was a very personal decision,” he said, revealing his struggles with attention issues. “Today, I have nothing left to prove.”
The actor previously mentioned the period when all French people adored his brother. “It was tough when I was younger. I was not reassured and could think people didn’t like me for who I am, but because they saw my brother through me,” he explained in a January 2024 interview with “Tele-Loisirs.”
After graduating, Arié initially pursued law studies in Strasbourg, hoping to become a lawyer. Realizing it wasn’t for him, he returned to Morocco to contemplate his future. At 21, he decided to move to Paris to attend theater classes and pursue his dream. Despite difficulties, he never gave up. “We struggle, but we discover people, learn about life, human nature. I have mostly good memories. I did all kinds of jobs: pizza delivery, children’s entertainer, carpet cleaning in companies,” he recalls. Today, the actor has truly found his place and excels as one of the strongest players in season 6 of “Tres Tres”!
