Raising public awareness about environmental issues, ecological, economic and social transition, considered as “true challenges of our time”, is at the origin of the association Climate 3 Borders. “That’s why we have organized several events in recent years, the latest being the Meeting of Possibilities in October 2025, and several film-debates,” inform Patricia Briday and Christine Obedia, members of Climate 3F.

“The experience of this Meeting of Possibilities, especially through the screening of a documentary, confirmed that cinema is an excellent medium to stimulate rich exchanges and true debates,” notes Katel Midavaine, the director of the Coupole cinema.

An invitation to open-mindedness and curiosity

This year, the Ludovic cinema and Climate 3F are once again teaming up to offer a more regular meeting, to continue into the 2026-2027 season. A bimonthly meeting, more conducive, in terms of duration, to exchange and debate. “It will be in the form of a film series called the Cinema of Possibilities, echoing last fall’s Meeting of Possibilities. This film series can be supported by several environmental associations and be a joint reflection project,” continues Patricia Briday.

Everyone will take away a message, according to their view of today’s society.

For this first meeting, announced on Tuesday, April 21st, “we have chosen a film for its premiere,” continues Katel Midavaine. It is Cocotte, a feature film by Hungarian director György Pálfi, whose official release is scheduled for May 27th and whose protagonist is a chicken. The life of a brave and rebellious hen, through the roughness of the world. “This film is accessible from 8 years old and offers a reflection on industrial egg production but also on how we humanize humans,” comments the director of the Ludovic cinema. The deliberately offbeat subject allows for a broader audience, addressing an accessible and non-divisive theme. This first meeting is an invitation to open-mindedness and curiosity.

“It is a family film that was chosen, since we are in the school holiday period. It is screened in the original language with subtitles but is very accessible because there are few dialogues,” assures Patricia Briday. Everyone will take away a message, according to their view of today’s society.

On June 9th, a film on the theme of forests, trees, and biodiversity

Following the film, a meeting with a free-range egg farmer is planned: a representative from the Richart-Schmidlin farm in Roppentzwiller, whose free-range egg activity has been organic for over 10 years, with eggs widely marketed in the sector. “This will help answer the questions raised by the film, bringing the perspective of a daily witness to this familiar animal society, both in our plates and unknown in depth to most of us,” completes the spokesperson for Climate 3F.

The next date, Tuesday, June 9th at 8:00 pm at the Coupole, will be an opportunity to discover another film chosen “for its informative content, artistic qualities, and its ability to entertain us while learning.” The film will be chosen in collaboration with Méllissa Muller, from the urbanism/ecological transition department of the City of Saint-Louis, on the theme of forests, trees, and biodiversity.

Tuesday, April 21st at 8:00 pm at the Coupole cinema in Saint-Louis. No reservation required. Single rate: €6 per ticket. Screening followed by a discussion in the presence of a free-range egg farmer from the Richart-Schmidlin farm in Roppentzwiller, the Climate 3F team, and Katel Midavaine for multiple insights on the film.
