For years the Marriott Library has provided the vast database Web of Science to the University of Utah campus. This powerful database covers journal articles, international publications, conference proceedings, and books in the hard sciences, social sciences, and humanities. One of the richest collection of index databases currently available, it is provided free of charge to students, staff and faculty.
Recently the library subscribed to an expanded version of Web of Science. This now includes:
• Complete Web of Science Core Collection:
o Conference Proceedings Citation Index 1990-current
o Book Citation Index 2005-current
o Emerging Sources Citation Index 2005-current
o Index Chemicus* 1993-current
o Current Chemical Reactions* 1985-current
• Complete Full Platform Access:
o Biosis Citation Index 1926-current
o Derwent Innovation Index 1966-current
o Data Citation Index 1900-current
o Current Contents Connect 1998-current
Access to the full Web of Science Platform provides University of Utah users with over 208 million records, compared with the 106 million records available in the previous subscription. Web of Science records include direct links to the Marriott Library’s journal holdings, enabling users to connect from citation to full text access.
Web of Science includes author profiles and the ability to track research across the institution. Access to Conference Proceedings, which include publications that may not result in journal articles or book chapters, allows students and faculty to discover emerging research in areas such as Engineering, Computer Science, Medicine, Physics, and Chemistry.
