Victoria Beckham responds to accusations made by her son of trying to “control” his life and “ruin” his marriage, stating that she and husband David have always sought to “protect” their children in an interview with the Wall Street Journal on Thursday.

In a lengthy message posted on social media in January, 27-year-old Brooklyn Beckham specifically criticized his famous parents for prioritizing the “Beckham brand” over everything else.
According to him, in the weeks leading up to his 2022 marriage to American actress Nicola Peltz, they tried to persuade him to “abandon” his rights to his name.
When asked by the American newspaper about these accusations, Victoria Beckham, former Spice Girl turned successful fashion designer and businesswoman, defended herself, as did her husband, former England football team captain, without directly naming their son.

“We have always tried to be the best parents possible. You know, we have been in the spotlight for over thirty years now, and all we have tried to do is protect our children and love our children,” she insists.
“Being parents of young adults and adults, my God, it’s very different from having young children. I think we are doing our best,” she added.
The Beckhams maintain a glamorous and close image on social media and in the media, portraying a successful couple very connected to their three other children.
Brooklyn also accuses his parents of subjecting him to countless attacks, both in private and public, relayed to the press at their behest, since he started opposing his family.
David Beckham did not directly respond to questions about the tensions with his son, but during a CNBC interview on children’s use of social media, he emphasized that they have “the right to make mistakes.”
