A team of rescuers from the SNSM intervened at the Etel bar on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, where a RIB boat capsized.
One of the two people on board ended up in the water, in great difficulty in an area with strong currents.
This man was rescued by a surfer who took him on his board and brought him back to land. The SNSM thanked him in a Facebook post:
Presence of firefighters on jet skis
The other person on the boat managed to stay afloat on the hull after the mishap. She was taken care of by the SNSM, assisted by the Belz firefighters who were also mobilized on site with their jet ski.
The RIB boat was towed back to the port of Etel.
“We are looking for the surfer”
The daughter of the man rescued by the surfer is looking to find him to thank him for his actions. She left the following comment on the SNSM’s Facebook post:
“Hello everyone, we are looking for the surfer who intervened in this shipwreck and who took my Dad under his wing and on his board to the shore and stayed with him for a while. We want to thank him sincerely and also return a poncho towel that belongs to him and means a lot to him. Thank you again for everything.”
