On Friday, April 10, on his Truth Social network, Donald Trump posted a photo of his proposed triumphal arch project. The arch, which would be located in Washington, would measure 76 meters in height, making it the tallest in the world.

This is one of his obsessions: leaving his mark as President of the United States. To achieve this, Donald Trump has adopted several strategies. On the one hand, he positions himself as a “peacemaker” around the world, as evidenced by the creation of his Peace Council, as well as his interventionist policy in Venezuela in early January and in Iran in late February. While an American delegation, including his vice president JD Vance, is expected to arrive in Islamabad, Pakistan on Saturday, April 11 for peace negotiations between the United States and Iran, Donald Trump is focused on other projects.

“The biggest and most beautiful in the world”

On Friday, April 10, on his Truth Social network, the American head of state unveiled the plans for his triumphal arch project. “I am pleased to announce that today, my administration officially submitted to the highly respected Commission of Fine Arts the presentation file and plans for what will be the BIGGEST and MOST BEAUTIFUL Triumphal Arch in the world.” He added: “This will be a wonderful asset for the Washington D.C. region, which all Americans will be able to enjoy for many decades to come,” he wrote. In the photo, we see a white Triumphal Arch highlighted by numerous gildings.

Celebrating 250 years of US independence

At its summit, two eagles surround a Statue of Liberty, symbols of the United States and equivalent to our French Marianne. Just below, an inscription reads: “One nation under God.” According to several of our colleagues, including TF1, this arch would rise to a height of 76 meters, making it indeed the tallest in the world. For comparison, the French Arc de Triomphe, built in 1806 and located in Paris, measures 50 meters. The estimated cost of building this monument, originally intended to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026, has not been revealed.
