It is a real vitriolic diatribe, “spanning 482 words,” that Donald Trump addressed to his detractors Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Megyn Kelly, and Alex Jones on his social network, Truth Social, on April 9, as reported by The New York Times. In this message directed against these influencers and podcasters from the Maga camp (from the slogan “Make America great again,” or “Rendre sa grandeur à l’Amérique” in French), the White House tenant does not hesitate to hurl insults and personal attacks, highlighting in particular:
“They all have one thing in common: they have very low IQs. They are stupid people, they know it, their families know it, and everyone knows it!”
While the disagreements between the American president and these conservative influencers had been simmering for some time, especially since the start of the military operation Fureur épique in Iran, it was the threats made by Donald Trump against Iran on April 7 that finally pushed things over the edge.
Taking Control of the Maga Movement
Influencer Candace Owens wrote on the platform X: “Donald Trump is a genocidal madman, our Congress and military must intervene. We have surpassed the limits of madness.” Candace Owens, as well as podcaster Alex Jones, have even joined those “calling for the impeachment of Donald Trump under the 25th amendment of the American Constitution,” which allows declaring the president unfit and stripping him of his functions in favor of the vice president, as reported by the New York daily.
As USA Today points out, by very harshly attacking these media personalities, Donald Trump is somewhat trying to put out the fire within the Maga camp before it spreads. Indeed, in his diatribe, the White House tenant emphasizes that “the majority of the Maga movement is on his side” and accuses these conservative influencers of “seeking publicity at others’ expense.”
“No one talks about them, and their opinions are the opposite of those of the Maga camp – otherwise, I wouldn’t have won a CRUSHING VICTORY in the presidential election,” the American president asserts, adding categorically: “The Maga movement agrees with me.”
To this, Candace Owens simply replied succinctly on the X platform: “Maybe it’s time to put grandpa in a retirement home.”
