Israeli strikes across Lebanon on Wednesday have killed 357 people and injured 1,223, the Ministry of Health announced on Friday, April 10, bringing the death toll to 1,953 since the start of the war between Israel and the Hezbollah, a pro-Iranian Islamist movement, on March 2. The source adds that this toll is not final, as search and victim identification operations continue.

In addition, 13 members of the Lebanese security forces were killed on Friday in the south of the country by Israeli strikes, according to a new report. “This painful loss only reinforces our determination to achieve a ceasefire that will protect Lebanon and our population in the south,” reacted Prime Minister Nawaf Salam in a statement, as Washington is set to host talks between the two countries next week.

President Joseph Aoun has called on the international community to “assume its responsibilities to put an end to the repeated Israeli aggressions.” The Israeli army declared on Friday that it has “eliminated” more than 1,400 Hezbollah fighters and “dismantled” over 4,300 infrastructures of the pro-Iranian movement since the beginning of the war between the two sides on March 2.
