As part of the Trois jours trop courts short film festival, the CGR cinema in Castres is offering a unique evening combining classical music and animated film on Friday, April 11 at 8:00 p.m. For this final edition of the festival, the organizers are collaborating with the music and dance conservatory of Tarn, a branch of Pays d’Autan, to provide the audience with a complete artistic experience centered around the famous animated film Fantasia, directed by Walt Disney in 1940. Before the screening, the symphony ensemble of Pays d’Autan – bringing together students from string, wind, and percussion classes from the second cycle, from Castres, Mazamet, and Labruguière – will take the stage to interpret three works. The program will include a Disney medley arranged by Johnnie Vinson, featuring themes from The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast, as well as Palladio by Karl Jenkins and Pizzicati, an excerpt from the ballet Sylvia by Léo Delibes. Directed by the artist-teachers Florent Lussan and Pierre Caner, this ensemble allows young musicians to highlight their technical and expressive qualities while experiencing an essential stage experience in their artistic journey. “It’s a great opportunity to introduce children to classical music and animated films,” says Florence Panis, director of CGR and the festival, excited to offer an event accessible to all audiences. The admission fee is set at 5 euros per session. Tickets are available on the CGR website and directly at the cinema’s box office.
