The Pittsburgh Penguins have secured a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time in four years. They clinched their playoff berth with a 5-2 victory over the Devils in Newark, New Jersey. Evgeni Malkin, Bryan Rust, Egor Chinakhov, Tommy Novak, and Erik Karlsson all scored for the Penguins.

Currently, Pittsburgh holds the No. 2 seed in the Metropolitan Division with 98 points, six points ahead of the Philadelphia Flyers, and three games remaining in the regular season.

Tickets for the Penguins’ first two home playoff games at PPG Paints Arena will go on sale to the general public on Friday at noon. The NHL will release the playoff schedule once all teams and dates have been finalized.

In recent postseason history, the Penguins have struggled to find success. Their last playoff appearance was in 2022, and they have not won a series since 2018. The last time they advanced past the second round was in 2017 when they won the Stanley Cup. Four players from that championship season are still with the team: Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, and Bryan Rust.
